Alocasia, A Tropical Delight

Alocasia, also commonly known as the green velvet taro due to its appearance, is a tropical plant that’s increasing in popularity as a house plant. This eye candy of a plant can definitely be a statement piece in a bright lit area of your home! It features broad leaves with deep green hue that gives it an elegant feel.

This plant has a matte green and a velvet texture on the surface and has arrow-shaped leaves which is mesmerizing with a single glance. This plant usually grows on shaded areas, so make sure to not leave it under direct sunlight.

Care Guide

Light

Have your Alocasia placed in a spot where it gets bright but indirect sunlight. Do not leave it out under direct sunlight or its leaves will burn!

Water

Give your Alocasia a drink only when the top soil is dry. Have the water flow through the pot's drainage hole, then discard the excess in the saucer.

Humitidy & Temperature

Alocasias love a humid environment with warm temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use a mister, a humidifier, or even a pebble tray with water.

Toxicity

Alocasias can be considered harmful to both pets and humans when ingested, so make sure to keep it away from your furry friends.
