Monstera, A Tropical Delight

The monstera has monster in its name for a reason, and these plants will grow like crazy under the right conditions. So we advise you to give this tropical gem some space to become the statement piece it wants to be! The fenestrations (holes) in the leaves are why this plant is also called the swiss cheese plant, and allow for the leaves to spread over greater area to increase sunlight exposure, by using less energy to produce and maintain the leaves.

In the wild these plants truly live up to their monstrous name, as these evergreen vines will grow up to 70 feet tall in their native rainforests. This wild plant is also used to growing from a rainforest floor, where less water gets to than you would think, so they don't mind if you forget to water them every once in a while. The spectacular leaves and easy care make the Monstera one of our favorite plants.

Otherwise Known As

Swiss Cheese Plant, Fruit Salad Plant, Hurricane Plant, Monstera
